Vince lay in the cheap metal boat, staring up at the afternoon sky, which for the most part, was pretty clear. Occasional clouds would drift by as each minute passed by. And each minute seemed like an hour. Where was she?
Vince had been waiting for her for almost two hours. He was surprised himself that he hadn't just headed back to the shore and come back another day. Maybe she was busy. Maybe she just couldn't make it today. Things could happen like that. Of course he would have appreciated a small heads up that something had indeed come up, but it wouldn't have bothered him. Vince had been asking himself why he'd stuck around for so long out here. He guessed he couldn't push that "give her five more minutes" mindset out of his head.
'Still...' he thought to himself, '...I'm gonna have a bit of a talk with her if she shows up. I could have gotten a few things done back...back...'
A hauntingly beautiful melody began to sound. The voice was resonating through the depths of the sea in which Vince lay upon, yet if one were next to Vince, they would not have heard it. The voice seemed to only be heard by Vince. It echoed in his mind, and he slowly sat up, closing his eyes.
Looking at Vince, one could say he was in a dream. Or a trance perhaps. They wouldn't be wrong. Vince was very much preoccupied. The one he had been waiting for had a beautiful singing voice. And it had a small side-effect, that it could very much make Vince unaware of his present situation. Thankfully, he'd never heard it when his situation was dire. The singer knew better...for the most part.
Vince smiled and clutched his hand over his pendant as the voice echoed through his head. While he might have not been aware of what exactly was going on, or his own actions at that moment, his mind comprehended enough, that the voice was familiar to him, and a voice he felt comfortable around. And it felt wonderful to hear it whenever he did...
But before too long, the voice suddenly stopped, and Vince was jolted from his trance. In his shock he accidentally ripped off the pendant from around his neck, his hand practically shoving it from his body, and over the side of the boat. Vince barely realized what was going on when he heard a small splash off the side of the boat, and he realized that the pendant his lover had given him so long ago, was now absent from around his neck. He put two and two together quickly, and immediately reached over the side, hoping he would be in the neck of time to catch it from sinking.
He reached in deep, clawing through the water, hoping to feel the string, but could only feel the cool water below him. He sighed in sadness, beginning to withdraw his hand, when something suddenly grabbed it!
At first Vince was taken by surprise at the grab, but then he felt the soft touch of the hand belonging to his lover down beneath the surface, and he couldn't help but smile. He couldn't see her beneath the surface, but that didn't matter. He knew her touch when he felt it. He was taken a bit by surprise when she didn't surface, and instead began to pull him in. Apparently she was very eager for him to join her. Maybe as a small apology for being so late.
Vince smiled as he got closer and closer to the water, the blurry shape of his lover, Aestus, entering his vision mere inches from the water's surface. He'd practically forgotten about the pendant right there. He wasn't worried about it. He knew they'd get it back...

For almost three years, I've struggled to create much of anything, and this is the result of roughly three days of work. I don't often submit here, as I'm more active on Deviantart, but I figur d to share this, but if you want the full story, I'd go find my profile over there.
Here she is, Aestus Tsunamaki, taking Vince by the hand, for a nice dive into the deep. Aestus has changed a lot over these last four years. I like to think she's developed a bit of a siren-esque personality. Now don't be alarmed, she doesn't go out drowning sailors or unfortunate swimmers, she just has a very hauntingly beautiful singing voice. It's a little thing she uses to let Vince know she's there. If he's having a bad day, it's the perfect cure to help settle him down. Of course one can argue that she has more siren characteristics than she likes to admit. She does have a habit of diving with Vince...a little too deep for comfort, and now and then, she will keep him beneath the surface longer than she should. She may even tease him doing that. But that's mainly because she loves him, and loves playing with him. And though there have been a few close calls...she hasn't lost him yet. And she'll make sure that record remains clean.
