A sketch I did for my friend
citrine while she was out here visiting us for a few weeks. I forgot her glasses and piercing, but it was a good start.
She helped me shade and add detail to the wings. = )

Review because you are on "I love critiques"
The biggest thing here, is to work on anatomy. Right now I see a lot of things that don't quite match up, so more study in that area in needed. When you look at muscles groups really look at the way they play off each other and start thinking of shapes layered on top of one another; mass, shape, volume. That lends the character weight and will help you draw the clothing on top of it all. Remember that the better you know reality, the better your fantasy elements will be. Always.
Easiest thing to do is get a friend to stand in the pose you want and draw them. Draw the wrinkles in the clothing and see how they flow to/from the muscles that are flexing.
Lastly, start working darker. You remind me of me a while back when I was afraid of going darker because I thought I was going to wreck my piece. I killed that buddah and so must you. ;)

Thank you for the constructive criticism! You're right, I need to study anatomy and clothing to get body shapes and wrinkles down. Not too much I can actually say about the shading, though, as this was a collaborative effort and the friend I was giving this to added in the shading herself.
Suggestion: do gesture drawing of people doing every day things. You are an artist and you have a desire to create- to say something about the things you see around you. It's what we do. So try this: sit down at a fast food place and draw people standing in line, and draw some sitting and eating. Draw people waiting for the bus, or pumping gas. Etc. The gestures should be no longer than a minute each and should get the full body. Create an action line and work up from there. Try to get the feeling of weight their bodies are showing in those poses, etc.
