for 3 years, I was the shortest person on my schools' basketball team. I had no chance of dunking, or catching rebounds, but I made myself valuable by being the absolute master of stealing. When everyone is taller than you, it's slightly easier to grab the ball when others are dribbling. Also, if you are fast, you can easily intercept a pass. I didn't get a lot of points, but my role was to steal the ball and get it to someone who had the reach. It was glamorous, but it was vital to our success. Then I broke my leg and that ended all my sportsball adventures (I also played volleyball and almost football, and was a member of the cross-country team).

darn, that's some unfortunate accident. But it's true, height doesn't make you a good player, your skills do.
