They're sort of my id, yes. :) The textures you see in your minds eye, and so forth.

For me it's sort of the other way around, I hear music in my head 24/7, but I don't play a melodic instrument (my voice excluded) I'd say that the visuals are sort of an approximation of the music, really.

I've messed around in Corel Painter, just going at it with abstract stuff acting in the spur of the moment and letting it evolve. Let me tell you, I have a lot more respect for abstract work like this!
