Mazinger Series - Mikene Empire Warrior Beast Birdian
Birdian was a Cyborg Bird and a member of the Mikene Empire's Aerial Warrior Beasts. His Human face was located on the chest of the Cyborg. He was first introduced in the 1974 OVA Mazinger Z vs The Great General of Darkness as part of the Tokyo attack force under Dante and Archduke Gorgon's commands. After The Great General, General Jumma and Dante, he was probably the most Machiavellian of the Warrior Beasts shown in the OVA.
When the team arrived on Tokyo, Mazinger Z greeted them, Dante briefly pushed back on Mazinger while Birdian surprised him in a move to guide him into the Bay where Slava jumped out and dragged Mazinger Z under. He joined the other Warriors to lay waste on Tokyo, before the Archduke sent Dante and Mammothdon to siege the Photon Power lab. When Mazinger Z reemerged from the bay after destroying Slava, he decapitated Jarada, the Warrior Beast Cobra, but was affected by her acid Venom: Birdian reappeared and told him would never fly with his wings now weaken, he then threw a powerful wind gust on Mazinger which made him crashed into the city, right in front of the Warrior Insect Raigon.
With Raigon, Birdian dealt a great deal of damage on Z, tormenting Koji with pure joy. Koji took Birdian out by firing Southern Cross Knives on his human face: as the ancient cyborg agonized in pain, he gave his back to Koji, allowing Mazinger Z to fire his Optic Photon Beam, and Birdian exploded before of disposing of Raigon.
Birdian briefly made cameo in Mazinkaiser-Great General Deathmatch in the opening sequence, with Aerial Warrior Beasts Orbee and Obelius, and their commander, General Birdler:The Four Mikene Warriors were trying to kill Koji in the sky while trying to escape on a plane, but Lori and Loru saved everyone by stabbing the Warrior Beast with their Mecha, Millennium Alpha, before the twins were killed by Birdler and kamikaze Millennium Alpha onto the Flying Fortress Mikelos. Birdian appears in the Mazinger Zero Manga.
