Hey there's no reason to fear... well... maybe yes but... the darkness still does not grow and I know it will get worse... hehehe when evil appears always grows... sweet dreams
(Thanks that I'm not very good drawing and I do not upload drawings in a row or would make comics 10 times more frightening that would make you unable to sleep in a month... do not be afraid of this... there are worse things)
If you're a big kid because you wet your bed? Wear diapers that will surely keep you from getting wet

I'm gonna admit, these last several pages have me like "I don't want to read because it's so unnerving, yet at the same time...it's so interesting and well-made."
The only thing I can compare it to is maybe watching a GOOD, scary but interesting horror movie, BUT...since I haven't really watched a lot of horror movies, I can't specify a single one.
To say the least if I were to compare it to a book I have read, what with the depressing/unnerving aspect mixed with the interest and desire to see what happens next to these characters, I would say...Stephen King's Cell.
But, considering this is the case with Souffle, I'm gonna guess that, after many dreams between them, Jack eventually got Souffle to do something for him, possibly as a threat if not out of knowledge that Souffle has been doing so much for his dear brother.

I'm not sure about anything any more.
Okay, so Jack is real, something I wondered about earlier. I'm not sure what this enzyme has done to him, obviously. However, in Gem's dreams, both Souffle and Jack can talk to her. Was she given the same enzyme under Dr. Murdock's (whom I'm assuming is Souffle . . . and Jack) orders?
Is Jack alive? Is he able to control other's thoughts? When Gemma saw him in the room earlier, was that Jack or a Jack/Souffle mix? Can Jack control people?
I'm not really into horror, and obviously, I was hoping for a better ending to the story than this, but then again, I also know that it is supposed to be better. However, getting there from here is something altogether different.
Sam, as to your ability to draw creepy, I'd say you've hit it right on, literally. But, sweetie, go back and look at the first five pages of this story, and then look at the last five, you've come a long way on a lot of things.
Hugs!

Ah, now that is interesting. Chemically induced telepathy, or astral projection.... or something like that. Geez Souffle... you didn't have to smother him with a pillow, but why try to bring him out of a vegetative state. You're like that person going back into a relationship that's been abusive on every level. You think any psychotherapist would recommend that? Of course not, because they're not fools like you, Souffle. Had you taken the time to ask one other person whether or not reviving the infanticidal pyromaniac was a solid plan of action, no would would have said "yeah, there's no way that could go wrong'"
It's his BROTHER. Of course, Souffle had no idea what was going on inside of Jack's head, he was only doing what he thought best.
Which brings me to another question. If Jack was only burned in the fire, then why was he vegetative? Why wasn't he able to move? This doesn't make sense to me, we're missing something here.

if I were to venture a guess, and this is my guess. What if Jack tried to commit suicide to join Nicole, Zee-zee, and Rasile in death, something he could have tried to do and almost worked but Souffle saved his life barely but the damage left Jack pretty much a vegetable.
My guess would be oxygen deprivation to the brain maybe? That or he's just extremely catatonic. From what I know about neuroscience probably also suffered frontal cortex damage. That tends to create sociopaths. If that were the case, Souffle really wouldn't be able to help him.
As for them being brothers as a reason to help him? Wouldn't work for me. If my IRL brother killed everyone I held dear to me, he would be for all intents and purposes, dead to me. I would not want him resuscitated, and if he lived, I would work actively to make sure he never have his freedom again. But that's just me.

Okay, I can deal with that, in a comic.
So, let's say that Jack somehow can control Souffle via some sort of telepathy. Now, how does Souffle connect with Gemma in her dreams? Not telepathy, since ZeeZee and Rasile were doing it too, and they've been dead for 34 years or so. How do THEY communicate with her?
Remember when ZeeZee was trying to save Gem, and tossed her out the door of whatever zoo attraction he was in, because Jack was after him (in her dream). That would be, in my opinion, more than just a dream.
Gemma should not have been affected by it, nor should ZeeZee and Rasile.
We'll just have to wait until the story ends. LOL
Sammy has 'PreSchool' on Saturday, and then a fancy dress dinner on Sunday, I think, so we're probably not going to hear anything from her utnil Monday at the earliest, and who knows when the next pages will be out, with her Pawpets committments, and her Glastonbury commitment.
Might be the end of April.

I do not doubt that certain chemicals in the smoke could have some deleterious effects, but usually, they are short term. For Jack to be vegetative would require something else, though.
Yeah, I know, why can't I just sit back, read and enjoy the story without picking it apart? It's just what I do, I'm as asshole like that.

Wild Headcanon: The stuff Souffle gave to Gem was the same serum he gave to Jack, and he did it in the hope that it give her the power to combat his brother's attacks. She will ultimately not only resist him, but by combining her newfound power with all the love, compassion and DETERMINATION she muster, she break through to him...and actually save him.
See I'm thinking, that because of the whole twin brothers connection to Souffle, that the serum gave Jack the ability to enter his brother's dreams, and over time even to control Souff's actions. As he gained strength in the Dream world, his control of Souff grew. Twisted by his bitterness, hate and anger, and also probably his guilt too, he became the nightmare monster we saw earlier. And then, Jack growing stronger... Souff found a way to reach out to Gemma through her dreams, fearing that Jack would find her first, and inflict irreparable harm. When Souff was in her room at the Psych ward, she saw him as Jack, because her forays into the Dream world had left her sensitive to her Father's presence, for her the real world and the Dream world had begun to merge, so she saw the truth, that Jack was there, only what everyone else saw was Souff's body. Jack, using his brother's body, gave her the serum in a large dose in the hopes of forcing her into the Dream World permanently, where his power was greater, and he could torment her for as long as they both continued to live, and maybe longer. But if this really is a dream world, does that mean Zeezee and Rasile are merely mental constructs created by Souff to help Gemma, or are they ghosts?
Was laying in bed tonight thinking about this, and I'm wondering if at some point, Souffle decides to use his own brain patterns to 'reset' Jack. Kind of like being jacked in in The Matrix, and instead of Jack's patterns being reset, he somehow forces his mind into Souffle's.
Goodness, I found this yesterday night and just got to the last page tonight. All three hundred and something pages. Oh my goodness, the pain I feel, like I my emotions have been slingshotted all over the place. I imagine this is what a video game character feels like when you're fighting a really really difficult boss you know how it's like stabbed through the heart Revival spell stabbed through the heart Revival spell. Except over and over again across 300 or so pages. That being said I've loved every moment of it and eagerly await more.
