I wrote this years ago, in a college wrtiing class, when I was very much taken with 'The Land Before Time'. It's not a fanfic - it's actually the preface to a novel that has lain, like so many of my projects, half-finished for years. It was published in Jordan Greywolf's "PawPrints" magazine around 1998 or so, and I'll post the accompanying illustrations here if I can get permission.
