A member of a now extinct* species, Illia holds the title "Lastmother" due to the unusual circumstances of her survival- at some point in the distant past, she bound herself to a Sufficiently Advanced artifact of effectively indestructible nature; although her own body is still mortal, the artifact houses her mind and is capable of repairing any damage to her or even completely rebuilding her in the case of her physical destruction.

Due to this, she's of indeterminate age- until fairly recently she was trapped for several million years just outside the event horizon of a black hole, leaving the universe quite different from when she last was free to explore it. The artifact is also capable of of "unfolding" in a seemingly impossible way, forming a personal capsule around Illia capable of FTL space travel.

Illia keeps herself busy on adventures- not all of which she survives, such as one where she spent several hundred years inside a volcanic magma chamber after being chucked in as a sacrifice- and makes use of her wits, durability, and hypnotic gaze in doing so.

As a side hobby, she's been slowly resurrecting her species, too.
