My demon clan, a bunch of “good” demons from a story concept that changes, but hopefully gains some cohesion every time I get back to it! Basically this group is made up of half-demons who grew up on Earth and those who were banished, for one reason or another, from the demon world to the human world. They discover a reason to band together and become an unlikely team poised to fight back against darker forces that threaten human and demonkind alike.
Luc, the Demon Prince is in front with his guardian Hellhound Walt (and his human form), Humanoid Beholder friend Holden, Orcus the ogre, Arcane Professor Graham, Aneksi the Daughter of Bastet and Nobuo the Tengu.

He does in a roundabout sense -- gnolls are hyenas that were demonically warped or so it reads... and he can channel the divine light within himself somehow; he doesn't know how he does it, and it doesn't hurt him, so for him it's a powerful weapon against others.
He's mainly in an Eberron game I play in as a monk of the sun soul; martial artist that channels divine light as lightbolts and divine fire.
So yeah! I think he has words for the ruling class since despite the fact they made him like he is, but hates that he uses their worst weapon. :D

Oh my Goat - I am pretty sure that it must be the demonic version of "of my God", but it may be not really appropriate since they are probably not in super good terms with Hell and its rulers, but I am actually digressing - they look really cool. Seriously, I love what you have done with this guys - and girl - their character designs are really interesting - from what I can make out from this sketch at least. There are so many things to say, that I don't even know where to start. First of all, I have always had a soft spot for this kind of stories, I mean, about demons that give up on their demon ways or who are just plainly not evil enough. so yeah, it looks very appealing to me. I would like to know more about their personalities and how do they actually get along with each other. I mean, I don't think that it's a good idea to have the daughter of an ancient cat goddess and someone who is basically a big dog on the same team... Also, since you described Luc as a "demon prince", does that mean that he is the son - and potential heir - of the big boss ? I mean, the term "prince" is used very loosely when it comes to demonic hierarchies. And I don't know if he has any brothers or sisters. Actually, an evil sibling could make an interesting - although a bit cliché - rival. I am also really fond of the outline of his face, especially how you can see the shifting between the human half and the demon half of his head. But my favorite must be the hellhound. I love the way you have mixed his gog traits with the usual Devil Goat aesthetics ; it's pretty simple but it works really well. On top of that, his human form - at least I think that it's his human form - looks so chunky and cute. That said, the eye guy (I think that his name is Holden) is really growing on me. He made me feel a little uneasy at first, but for some reason, I am starting to think that there is something surprisingly sexy about all these eyes on his body. And he is so ripped, it's hard to say no. On a side note, is he based on any specific figure of the folklore ? he kind of reminds of another character, but I cannot put my finger on who. This comment is already long enough, so I will stop here, but there are two last things that I would like to ask you. Could you tell us some details about their different backgrounds and personalities, and are you planning to do a color version of this picture ?
OMG! Haha, this is the longest comment I've ever gotten, but I enjoyed reading it and I'm very happy you are so interested. Thank you!
I will try to be brief in my character descriptions, just a few lines to give you an idea of what they're about. I rarely color anything, I prefer my black ink manga-esque look. :)
Luc - Raised as a human who looks like he's in his early 20s. He has been kept separated from the demon realm since he was young because he was part of an uprising against his wicked family (father the demon king and twin brother) which was all but destroyed. To ensure his safety, he has a memory-altering spell cast on him once a year by a sage which has him believing he is a typical human living with his room mate Walt. The young man is strong in spirit but somewhat lacking in ability due to the lingering effects of the memory spell. As his demon side gains power and starts to emerge, he discovers his family's sacred ability to summon a pitchfork from within his body that contains all the power of the demon ruling class.
Walt - In human guise, is a friendly, happy-go-lucky, loyal friend and room mate to Luc. In truth, he is a savage hellhound tasked with being Luc's bodyguard and helping to make sure that Luc is kept in the dark about his past so he does not repeat it, while protecting him from any forces that might discover him and try to kill him. When Luc learns about Walt's role in hiding his past from him, they have a brief falling-out. Walt is ashamed and pledges to make it up to his friend however. His appetite in hellhound form is legendary, and though he is lean and thickly muscled when a hound, it makes him plump up in human form. :P
Holden - A very rare form of Beholder that exists in a humanoid form. He is ostracized and hated by members of his own race and so fled to the human world where he lives a shady life, hand to mouth, and keeping his distance from others. When he meets up with Luc and Walt, he helps them against his better judgment and decides to join them. His easygoing attitude is surprising considering the life he leads. Holden is forced to keep most of his thirty eyes closed and covered. Different eyes grant him different abilities including limited prophecy, paralysis and even energy beams. If he were to try to open all of his eyes and use their power it might very well put him in a coma, or kill him, not to mention what it would do to anything around him.
Professor Graham - A professor of ancient literature, the arcane and the occult who teaches at Luc's university. Luc has always had a crush on him, and it becomes worse when his demon side begins to emerge. Graham is kindly, measured and studious. Once he becomes aware of the demon world, wants to help his student and his friends however he can. He's the token full human of the group, usually found at his beautiful home in his well-stocked library.
Orcus - An ogre, a loner who protects one of the entrances to the demon world. He is gruff and stubborn, but also believes in strength above all else. When the group first tries to enter the demon world, Luc must battle him one on one, luckily by this time his demon powers are almost fully manifested and he is able to subdue the huge ogre. Orcus, out of respect, and maybe just boredom of playing gatekeeper for so many years, elects to go with them and help them. His weapon of choice is a hefty two-handed club.
Aneksi - One of the daughters of the cat-headed Egyptian goddess Bastet. She is vulgar, short-tempered and always spoiling for a fight. Despite this, she is also fiercely determined and holds her own ideals before anything. She likes Holden right away and ends up coming to the group's aid when they are cornered by soldiers of the Demon King. She's excited at the prospect of fighting against the royal family more and goes with them. (she has her reasons) Aneksi does not get along with Walt very much. Cats and dogs right? Some things never change.
Nobuo Karasu - A mighty daitengu, or Japanese crow demon who was sealed by a band of monks inside a statue for nearly 1000 years. Luc senses the tengu's power within the stone when they are forced to seek refuge at the monastery in the human world and so he frees the powerful yokai in hopes that he might help them. The tengu has seen and heard everything going on around him but has had no interaction with the outside world. He has become an older man, robbed of most of his long life and hates humans as a result. Luc is able to calm him down and convinces him to spare the monks who currently live at the monastery. Nobuo is immensely curious about and impressed by nearly everything he sees and learns as the world has changed so much since he was imprisoned. Over time, traveling with the group, Nobuo begins to admire and respect Luc for his leadership and his rage lessens as their friendship grows.

And this is probably the longest reply that I've ever received. I am actually starting to feel a bit guilty for making you write so much text. Haha, I guess that sometimes, even if you are trying to keep it short, there is just too much to say... Anyway, thank you for all these informations, it was very interesting to read. This is definitely going to be a hell of an adventure... the worst part is that I am not even sorry for this incredibly lame pun. On a side note, I was wondering, since the world in which the story takes place seems to convoke a lot of different mythos - Egyptian pantheon, Japanese folklore... - how does it work exactly ? Are they just various members of the demon race that were perceived differently by Humans across the world, or are they really different kinds of entities, if you understand what I mean ? Also, I just realized that Luc's name was most likely a nod to Lucifer (out of curiosity, do you already know how you are going to call his father and his brother ?).
Haha, you answer your own questions, so that makes it easy. Yes, at the risk of over-homogenization, I like the idea that certain deities and creatures are all members of the various demon races, or at least creatures that hail from that realm originally like Nobuo, Aneksi and Holden. Just like how I call this the human realm but not everything that lives here/was born here is human, not by a longshot. Yes, Luc's name is not overly clever on my part, haha, though he is not actually THE Lucifer. The main ongoing antagonists are Luc's brother, father, and his aunt and uncle. (father's siblings) They have names in-progress but they will have nicknames when I finally draw and post them as knowing a demon's true name gives one power over them, and I can't have that!
