What can I say about
genecatlow? To start with, he's quite possibly the reason I got into furry art in the first place. One of the first pieces of furry art I saw was one of his, and it's stuck with me since. He's done some of the warmest, most creative and sex-positive comics in the fandom. But if there's one thing he deserves to be remembered for, it's his welcoming and supportive attitude towards amateur artists.
Much of his work on that front was done through private message or comments on small galleries, where he'd give funny an encouraging comments to anyone he came across, it didn't matter if they had 10 watches or 10 000 watches. I was one of them; I started out a fan of his work and he became a fan of mine. He saw something in it, in spire of it's rough and uneven quality and it made me feel like I had something to contribute to the world, that my art had value, warts and all.
Beyond that, it was just incredibly FUN to trade ideas with someone that intelligent and talented. AS busy as he was, Gene pretty much always had time for his fellow artists, and if there is one thing I regret, it's that I never told him how much I appreciated it. As this comic shows, he didn't just leave an impression on me, but also my characters. Melody is referring to a storyline we improvised by trading comics back and forth where Melody got lost in the Northside.
There's more to come, cus if you think anyone can say everything that needs to be said about Gene Catlow in just three panels, you didn't know Gene.

Thank you for creating this comic, it really is powerful... made me shed more than one tear...
Gene, was a powerhouse in the subculture. He inspired and supported so many. Helping artists through art blocks and periods of doubt. Encouraging others to create and be artists.
He... he had such a huge heart. To do what he did for so many. In so many ways.
It... will be so strange without him.
Wishing you all the best.
