Okay... so I finally bit the bullet, caved and did that pretty-Disney-princess style piece I think about doing every now and then. I can't help it. I grew up around Cinderella type stories and always had a little thing for that sort of fantasy scene. In the beginning, I had no intention of putting more than a tinted background in this, but then it started to look like clouds, so I went with it. Mostly, this was to get that pretty princess type of drawing out of my head. XD
Anyhoo, done in prismacolor pencils and a bit of white gel pen for the trim.

i think if it wasn't for disneys' and others' encouragement to dream big i wouldn't have done or experienced even half of the most wonderful and good/worthwhile things i have this far in life. though something to keep in mind is that cinderella lived probably more than 17 years straight as a servant and was always polite and generous with her step family, as things got worse and worse, before ever being given a break. i don't think i've yet met a person who has faced lifes' challenges with so much grace so consistently, so how is it right for them to expect a similar reward? just something to think about.
well i never met mother theresa. also i don't know enough about her to know how comparable her life was to cinderellas. i think mother theresa is a good exsample of a person who has chosen try try to live life doing good, and enjoy the good in it, without neccisarily expecting a better life on earth because of it, which was part of my point ^_^
you should try Renaissance enactment! Like http://www.sca.org I have some other friends who wouldn't be caught dead in a dress unless it's at an sca event.
Ha ha! That's always fun, too! The new ones from http://www.betseyjohnson.com/ are so fab!
This looks really good. I don't see anything wrong with this, although in my opinion it seems though the head need(ed) a little blue to fully match the dress. The pearls seem almost hidden and barely accent the theme. Some sort of headpiece might work, but the hairstyle makes that a little difficult. I would really have no idea what could work.
Though when really looking at the details (or trying to) I see blue eye. I guess because I can't see all the detail so well that I think it seems "not quite complete." Regardless of any of that really nice. The watery under trails of dress look great.
