Here's something I've been working on today and yesterday. I suddenly had this idea of drawing a collection of the top four Finnish predators. Just to be obviously, from left to right, bear, wolverine, wolf and lynx. I enjoyed doing this, although you can probably tell that I've never drawn a bear before (that one polar bear doesn't count). Also, the wolverine looks a bit funny, but I didn't have a very good reference for him. I thought I'd like the wolf best, but much to my surprise, I think the lynx is actually the best of the bunch. Go figure, perhaps I ought to draw more felines.
So yeah, here's some Finnish wild life. I should also mention that they are not meant to be comparable sizes. Oh, and the squiggles around them are meant to be snow...
Art by me, references used for all of them.

Great pic, I love this! Go Finnish predators! Luckily haven't met any of those in wild, and animals tend to avoid people, but if they happen to meet human face to face... I think it's the human who loses. They say that mother bear with cubs is the most dangerous one. If she smells human, she will warn by growling. "I have cubs, don't come here."
I must fav this. It isn't anything like the pictures I normally fav, but this has like my four favorite animals in the same picture. And all of those live in Finland. Great picture, I have to say, I like it a lot. Detailed, realistic, aside the scale of course... Yeah, great work. Keep it up!

Thanks for the long comment! The reason why my reference material for the wolverine was somewhat scarce was because I had to make do without an internet, as I wasn't around the computer when I drew this. I do have couple of wolverine pictures saved on the computer from when I did that trade with Vixyy, but didn't get the chance to use them. But I'm definitely into Finnish predators now and am toying with the idea of drawing more pictures of some of them, mainly the wolverine and the lynx. We'll see how my inspiration works.
When I was at school, my teacher told us this story about a man who happened upon an angry bear. The bear swiped him one and the skin on his forehead sort of detached and flopped over his face. But amazingly enough he survived. I had no delusions about the cuddliness of bears after that...

Ah, of course. I forget that Internet isn't actually always available... so we start to take things for granted. I have practically always a computer with Internet connection available, whether I'm home, in school, or with my friends... there's always a computer with 'net somewhere nearby...
You're very welcome for the long comment!

We have a weird internet connection that only works on one computer at the time, and given that Lutien uses it to work, I rarely get time on the computer. Hence I'm never on MSN etc. But I agree, we do tend to take it for granted these days. Funny how that happens.
I think bears are faster than humans, aren't they. Definitely wouldn't want to come across one...

You've done a wonderful job with the bear! It's hard to believe it's your first time drawing a bear 'cos it's so good! I love the other animals too. Thanks for mentioning that They aren't meant to be comparable sizes. I understand now. I saw first up that the squiggles were snow but thanks for telling anyway. Great job!
