(April Fool's)
No seriously we're not
Explain time: I was planning on making a few joke drawings for april fool's: intentionally bad fandom-based sonas that would be very funny and stupid and we'd all have a laugh about... But I quickly realized a few things:
a) I was out all day with friends having a life for once on april 1st
2) everything takes me longer when I'm not feeling the art vibe (which is lately)
#) I didn't plan to do any of this until 8am the day of april fools
... RIP
Well I hope you enjoy these gotdanged shits based on a show I don't even watch
(Objectively though I think these designs are ok, just not really fitting of Steven Universe, I guess? I don't really know, I did pretty minimal research for this)
Ivory, I was initially just going to do "bone" but ivory seemed more appropriate despite not being considered a gem. Ivory sounds more like a name, though I did miss out on the great opportunity to have the gem just be a huge bone sticking out of the crotch
Heliotrope, AKA Bloodstone. Really damn cool rock: I definitely used some indian aesthetic in the design, since that's where it's primarily found. Apparently it's a variety of Jasper, which I know is an actual character in the show already, but I realized that "w/e let's just fuck the police so I don't take 23 more days on catching up on backlog than I need to"
Spinel, obviously the gag here is "spine"--I tried to think of something visceral you'd get from combining teeth/bone and blood--but it's actually pronounced like "spin" and "el", not "spine-el"... It also looks like some dark souls shit or something, nothing like SU. At this point I think I gave up and just wanted to draw something cliched and creepy. I've been watching Nux play Dark Souls and Demon Souls lately, so I guess that's why it's on my mind and tainting my designs... Alternate ideas: uses a halberd, spinel to winnel. gg
Nux had the great idea of the weapons being a war pickaxe and darts/blowgun, which fuse to become a crossbow. He's a smart guy, you know!
Other ideas I considered: pyrite (which would look very feminine but insist on male pronouns), sulphur (which would probably appear semi masculine but be very slender and sallow), ammolite (which is cool and scaly looking and that's literally the only reason) and aragonite (which has a very cool name and that's literally the only reason)
