⚝ ⚝ ⚝ ABOUT IYRA ⚝ ⚝ ⚝
Also known as Stormwalkers, Pumonca are denizens of the World of Darkness. In general, these Bastet are very solitary creatures. The storytellers of the shifters, they roam about, rarely establishing territories. Following the events of the second War of Rage, Pumonca tend to be rather angry and bitter, now more likely to tell tales of woe or hatred than they ever had been guilty of in the past. Still, they are gravely serious about their role as defenders of the sacred land even to this day, for it is one of the only things that gives them any sense of purpose or meaning. Beyond their dedication to the charge of the Thunderbird—the deity the Pumonca most look up to, for it was the Thunderbird who gave to them the responsibility of defending the sacred lands—Pumonca are rather singularly concerned with their pride and dignity.
Iyra herself is a bit of an oddity amongst her people. Very much a wanderer of the land and a storyteller, as all Pumonca are, she is singularly her joyful and exuberant (attributes which Pumonca are not known for!). Though she carries much sadness over the Wars, Iyra doesn't find it in her heart to stay truly mad or melancholic for too long. She feels that there is far too much to be grateful for in her life to live the way that her people do now, far too many joys: Tulips in the springtime, the love of Awen, good friendships across her homeland, delicious booze to drink! Didn't you know that beer is evidence that the gods love us? Even so, as a shapeshifter, Iyra does possess a wicked temper and a mean streak to match . . .
A gifted Druidic Witch capable of strong magicks, Iyra is quite a special young Pumonca. She is also in possession of a lovely voice, often being described as a bard by those who know of her. One of her more unique traits, while loving to roam about and greatly valuing her independence, Iyra feels a deep-seated need to have a "home base" to call her own. For her, that is the Rocky Mountains, where she has indeed established a modest territory. She has been to many amazing places and beheld many gorgeous views, but still nothing can compare to the beauty of having a place to return to when all is said and done. Stranger still, Iyra rather loathes to be completely alone for any extended period of time. This is good for her, as the gods never intended Pumonca to walk their path in complete solitude. Iyra is at her happiest when she has a drink in her paw and a friend or two by her side with whom to tend a campfire, enjoy the stars, and trade good stories and songs. Such is the life of a nomadic puma cat!
Now, with that introduction, grab a nice drink of something yummy, imagine the sweet scent of ponderosa pine in the air, and follow this young heroine on her journey of self-discovery as she answers the charge of her people, if you're so inclined!
