Well, at Slate's back anyway.

So, without clothes, this is what Slate looks like from behind. In the middle, between where his wings meet his back, is essentially an eternal eclipse. The dark spot seems as though you could reach into it, while the light around it never fades.

This bizarre birthmark was seen as a curse by the Asteran Elders. Little did they know how close, and how far they were from the truth.

Took me, in total about 5 hours to do this, not counting the time I was chatting it up with some buds. I think I messed up with the head though, however, I don't have much experience drawing at this angle...
