A cheetah portrait on hand made 5”x4” watercolour paper by St-Armand. Created with Daniel Smith watercolour pigments, this was an experiment mixing from 3 colours only ( quinacridone rose, raw sienna, cobalt blue…and a touch bronzite). Bronzite and gold leaf accents make this piece shimmer in the right lighting. It took several hours to get those little details in.

That said I learned a lot from this piece, and I felt the need to paint something warm feeling. Cheetahs are one of my favorite big cats and its always a joy to paint them.
