So I'll admit it, I'm a Star Wars fan. I'm also a dragon. So a dragon Jedi character was really inevitable at some point. Rin Sel Dronathien is an Argothae, a reasonably simple, tribal people that are aware of the faster-paced, higher-technology galaxy around them but by their own choice just aren't an active part of it yet. That aside, it hasn't stopped Rin's people from being forced to defend themselves against Trandoshan slavers on one or two occasions, and a particularly Force-sensitive individual like Rin here can't stay beneath the notice of the Jedi Order forever. He joined wishing to do his part for the greater good of the galaxy, and fights with a unique lightsaber that's about a third again as long as traditional blades, and has a longer grip to accomodate this. He modeled his weapon on the traditional Argothae 'longblade' weapon he grew up learning to use. Essentially, if traditional lightsabers can be thought of as being roughly analogous to a katana in terms of dimensions and fighting style, Rin's longblade saber is more similar to European greatsword.
