Furnal Equinox 2017 - Day 2
Even from the back row,
still loses himself in the music and is mystified at how
and Xephyr can rock the con so hard.
PERSONAL NOTE/MINI-REVIEW: I only caught the tail-end of the concert (no pun intended) out of trying to get to the Masquerade on time, and I was a bit too early. As far as the last 10-15 minutes that I checked out, the band and special guest mainly did covers of famous songs - including Smashmouth's "All-Star" - applying their own vocals and tempos to them. If they did any original songs, then I more than likely missed 'em; again, I wasn't there for the whole thing. What do I think of them all as a whole? Well...
*shrug*
I'm indifferent. Like they're certainly no "meh" or "ech" - they're pretty engaging - but definitely musicians that I didn't bother knocking over tables to steal CDs of. See covers don't exactly go far for a reason: though there is a saying that "it's better to be right than to be first," the originals did them justice to begin with. Plus to have
promising that we'd be partying harder than Andrew W.K. is kind of a bold statement to rely on (especially knowing beforehand who the Hell Andrew W.K. is [who, might I add, made the happiest song about death ever] and how high the bar is that he set for rock music). Plus I kinda expected that all of the musicians would play in fursuit (and not just Clumzy), like
. But again, that doesn't diminish any of the performers in any way; they've got a decent sound, and if a radio station's giving them recognition, they've gotta be good! Here's to great success for all of them in and out of the fandom!
Also to be fair, I've never even heard of Pepper or Xephyr until some time before FE anyway. Matter of fact, I'm not totally into rock music; I love a lot of classic rock songs to death, but I'm not an expert in rock music in any way. The thing about me when it comes to music is not about genres but about whatever song catches my ears and makes me want to play them over and over again until said ears of mine bleed. Otherwise, if I had to pick genres, I'd say I'm more into video game soundtracks, anime soundtracks, classical, and a bit of J-Pop.
I know, I'm weird. lol
This photo you see here is one of many photos I've taken from this year's
with the rockin' theme choice of "Rock the Fandom."
This year in particular was my sixth furry convention I've ever attended.
