As part of my ongoing vacation we've been staying at a friends house in the southern part of the UK. He rescues hedgehogs as a hobby. Apparently their population is dropping fast due to habitat issues and also because people tend to accidentally run them over with lawnmowers because their first instinct is to stop and ball up when threatened. This one paid a visit to the feeder last night. We saw it on the webcam about midnight so went outside to say hi. These aren't native to the US, so it's the first time I've seen one in person, let alone held one.

This guy was quite calm (they ball up if they get scared), and just sort of chilled out while we held him. Then he went right back to eating when we put him down. I kind of want to try and draw a hedgehog now.
