If you are my age, then you were into Ninja Turtles as a kid. They were freakin' inescapable. And if you were like me, one of the biggest reasons you watched the cartoon was that April O'Neil made little red cartoon hearts pop out of your head. I think a big reason I liked her so much was that, like Gadget, she had the same 'damn sexy without trying to be' thing going on. April's too focused on getting the big scoop to care about such things as hairspray or picking out a different outfit every week. The yellow jumpsuit. Mmmmm. Loose, functional, no thighs or bellybutton on display; but man did it ever give me a boner. Probably has something to do with that tempting peek o' cleavage the neckline revealed. Anyway, it was pretty much inevitable I'd eventually draw Gadget in it. And doesn't she look nummy as a sassy brunette? :9

I always liked that show when I was a kid. Lots of cool transformations, and the Technodrome is still one of the coolest evil fortresses ever. They really overacted during the transformations though. Like, when April got turned into a hot catgirl, she keeps purring and talking like a really bad actor who just got turned into a catgirl. There was an ep where her co-workers got turned into rat people too. That was good stuff. All on YouTube if you wanna reminisce.
The catgirl thing really happened!? Zounds! I thought it was just a toy idea. Also, I very much want to see Irma as a ratgirl.
I got the Technodrome for Christmas one year and I still have it. I recently checked on eBay, and whenever I decide to sell that mother, I am really gonna get some serious loot for it. :)

I'm not sure I remember that one. I remember the one where she got turned into a naga. There was also a cool one where Aladdin got turned into a shark! ^.^
They had a lot of interesting transformation stories on Aladdin. Some pretty good non-transformation stories too, actually. And the T.V. show voice for Genie was totally better than Robin Williams.

Here ya go. Jasmine has kind of a Brisby thing goin' on here. There's a bit at the end where Genie tries to fix her, and for just a few seconds she becomes a true furry. Glee. ^__^

Wonderfull work. So bright and happy... send her to do a fluff piece on the Xuxa show or Double Dare. Go send her to report on exploding cheeses. Send her to a Dick Tracy convention. Just send her where her jumpsuit can't do any harm to my eyes! It's bad to stare at the sun!

Hey April! You should know...the New York sewers ain't no place to call "home." It's got me down; it's got me...so low.
Hey April! Hear me now: I'll be with you some way somehow! When you're runnin' from The Shredder, you'd better...watch out.
Well I...don't have a shell, and I don't know how to fight...but April O'Hackwrench...to me it seems so right!

Not a song parody at all, actually. It's an original by a band called Fishboy. Rather unheard-of band from Texas.

Song I quoted is on their first album, "Tim Flies 'Cuz He's Having Fun."

I think at the time I was just repelled by the whole hip teen slang "cowabunga dude" aspect of it. Plus, their main deal is that they fight bad guys, and I've just never been excited about such a thing. Comedy slapstick, witty dialog, these things I like. Squaring off against the usual team of villains every week? Meh.
So basically... mutant turtles, yeah maybe; teenage ninjas, no thanks. :}

You know, I can totally understand that. I think, even as a kid, I had some sense that their catchphrases would eventually become really, really embarrassing.
Even though, yes, they fight the same baddies almost all the time, the show was worth it just for the endless parade of interesting one-shot characters. Mutagen Man was one I remember clearest. He was a nerdy dude who got splashed with a bunch of ooze and turned into basically a bunch of organs in a jar with limbs, and he could temporarily make himself look like absolutely anyone. When they gave him a cure and he had one last transformation in him, instead of returning to his normal body, he turned into this almost-sleazily handsome guy. Everyone was like WTF? I thought it was a really unexpected, yet realistic, twist.
