This was the first music production I ever did (did it as an assignment for one of my classes where we were learning to use Pro Tools about a year and a half ago). For the particular assignment we had to do a song using only percussion... But with no MIDI. So we had to take samples of some drums and spot them in using grid mode and a temo map.
Needless to say it was a pain in the ass to change anything if you had a different idea, but it was a good lesson in the end.
The assignment was actually 2 parts, the first was to do drums, the second was to add MIDI to it. Used Reason Adapted for samples (Reason is cool, Reason Adapted blows) but at the time I didn't have a midi controller of any kind, so I sat there, figuring out the notes by ear and writing the midi by hand. God that was a pain in the ass.

Gah, pro tools, the bane of every musician's existance. Such a powerful software, such a useless interface. I loath it, yet I will someday have to learn it as well.
Blah, I'm rambling. I enjoy the musical peice, a great deal in fact. Any plans to rework it with another set of samples?

I've given some thought to it, when I did it was a complete noob when it came to effects too.
I like pro tools a lot, though it still has a long ways to go when it comes to MIDI production (though 7.x is a lot nicer then it used to be with the new hybrid MIDI/Aux Input tracks)

Perhaps... I'm far more fond of Logic, which actually has a ring truth to its name.
Powerful, powerful processing tools though. I wish I could port the protools plugins to another peice of software myself.
But hey, if you like it, good. Your skills will be in greater demand than one who avoids it like the plague (like me). :)
