USS Macon (ZRS-5) moored to the tip of the "Fernsehturm" in Frankfurt/Main Germany on a cold winter day in 2016.
This being one of many stops on her around the world tour after she had been completely overhauled and given to the hands of a small group of airship enthusiasts who now lovingly take care of the old lady.
The "Fernsehturm" was originally never intended to serve as a mooring mast for airships but with the help of some exorbitant talented german engineers the ship hold's onto it's temprorary moorings quite well.(and she is not in danger of doing a headstand like ZR-3 did 90 years earlier)
Now the only problem that remains is to get the crew and passengers safely to the ground and since rope ladders don't seem to be a valid option(despite the crews guarantees that it is totally safe to climb down 200 meters on a few loosely connected hemp strings in freezing temperatures) D-LZZR "Bodensee" has been orderd for assistance from "Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei" and will arrive shortly to fly shuttle service between the Macon and the ground.
Trivia: Took me almost 50minutes to get her into that position. DAMN YOU FSX FOR FIRST NOT SUPPORTING LIGTHTER THAN AIR CRAFT AND THEN CRASHING ON ME EVERY GOD DAMN TIME I TRY TO FLY THEM
More on this to follow...
