As you should know, Ida is the nickname of Darwinius massilae, the most complete fossil primate ever discovered and a very early branch of the family tree where lemurs split from monkeys, apes and ourselves. She's so beautifully preserved, including the outline of her body and gut contents, that researchers were able to determine she's female, half-grown, and had last dined on fruits and leaves. There's been a lot of hype about the find (Google even inserted her into her logo) but while she's not as earthshattering as the hyberbolic media frenzy claims, there's no denying this is an important and wonderful find.
So, being a stoopit furry, I went ahead and anthro'd her.

Well anyways. I'm glad to see someone else got wind of this discovery. I pretty much giggled when I found out about this discovery. :B
We all used to be little balls of fluff.. lol
Though I agree with the person above saying that at least you didn't 34 her.. I'm not that shy to admit that I like porn but I think people do take it to far sometimes.. =S

Thing is, most of the advertising she's ancestral to simians might be wrong. Some scientists have expressed the fact few complete adapid skeletons have been found, and as a whole adapids are usually considered closer to lemurs than to monkeys and apes. Plus, the description was rushed and the authors seem to be a bit too fanatic in their claims, so its difficult to know if Darwinius was in fact ancestral to us at the moment.
Well, she lacks a tooth comb and has nails on all her digits, that alone might place her closer to simians. I find that interesting, since those are grooming tools, it might possibly suggest they were relying more on other members of the troop to groom them, more social interaction . . . hard to say. At some point the hype will die down and more scientists will get a look at her, I guess then we can expect more detailed cladistic analysis.
belief is a term you can use to argue with me but you know it is the correct term for something you use for something that is without direct witness. from the first day at public school you believe that what the text books tell you and that of the teachers wisdom. So please spare me your self removal from the word "belief" as though you and the rest of the evolution world actually witnessed these animals first hand giving birth to non "same species" offspring.
I dont care that you dont believe against science. and I dont care you dont believe in any god. just at least be nice to those who do.
