Well this is just my view on things. I never really feel qualified to teach per se, but ask and you shall receive (sometimes). Most of the time I draw proportions from muscle memory, and just check them if something looks strange, or in certain special situations. But be careful doing that, all your figures start to look the same! If you aren't sure where to start off (there's so many options, right?) I suggest learning the proportions of your own body first. You can easily use a photo or mirror as reference.
This bit talks specifically about humans, but I might do a part about digitigrade/ungulate anthros too.
