Jackalopes *DO* exist! Here's one making a quick exit from our front yard. Unlike a leprechaun, if you catch him, he'll tell you where his stash of peyote is hidden. ;)

I haven't seen Mr. Jackalope in the back yard yet -- if he* were to show up back there, then Wizard might get a chance to chase that jaunty tail as far as the nearest fence. However, the times we've seen him, he's always been in the front yard, which has no fence. So the best Wizard can do is set at the window, quivering at attention, and probably imagining just how fun it would be to take chase.
* I really have no idea whether the rabbit is male or female, but it's much easier to assume one or the other when writing; since in most species the males are the ones with antlers/horns, it would seem a good guess here, even for mythological creatures. :)

Yeah, I've seen some pics of rabbits with far worse cases of the disease too. Our local jackalope seemed to do pretty well. We've seen him (could be a her -- I have no way to tell) for a couple of seasons, so he's a survivor. Will have to wait and see if he shows up again next spring.
