That Sort of Digimon is Now Handsome Furry Bait!
And we finally conclude Offmon's evolutionary line because I don't want to talk about the final, mega-equivalent stage, form alright? Appmon sure got real weird in that part.
This is the ultimate stage, Shutmon. He got the major changes here compared with his previous forms but still resembles a lot Offmon. That's one thing I love when they do that, to keep the evolutionary line that still gets some characteristics.
But again, looks are never what catches my interest first. I love his design of course, but once again, it was the 3DS game that showed his real charm.
Even like this, a humongous half feral wolf with blades and an uncommon choice of secondary weapon (a pair of scissors), Shutmon still retained his shy and awkwardness with little to no progress.
This's like the very few, if not the only, case in the whole digimon franchise which evolution doesn't magically overcome emotional issues.
How many times we see, from whatever franchise that got evolution as feature like Pokemon and Digimon, which some individual got this problem but soon as they evolve, it was as if never existed?
I'm genuinely sick to see that.
Flaws is what makes a character interesting and how they deal with them. Perfection is not just plain but also boring. Mary sues are boring.
That's why I like Offmon and his evolution line so much. No matter how big, strong and majestic he gets, he's still insecure.
Although, of course, that's just in the 3DS game.
I'm not really expecting the Offmon from the anime to be like that once he'll evolve in the next episodes. But socially awkward Shutmon exists, it's official, so that's fair enough for me. I'll be happy to see him animated, regardless his role.
