I like to also call AMD-65s "Hungarian Typewriters" because of their appearance when you have a drum magazine on them.
I've had this FEG TGI AMD-65 for a long time and I have been constantly adding to it since I got it all those years ago, back than there was a bunch of these at a gun shop in Lexington for $650, but I bet they are much more expensive now since Obama's gun control scares and FEG going out of business. (EDIT: I originally thought they went out permanently, but I was looking up the translation for FEG and apparently someone actually saved them from bankruptcy and they are now still in business, not sure if they still import rifles to the US though.)
Don't worry, i'll list all the things I have added to the gun....
1. Two pairs of Command Arms grips.
2. A AMD65Tech stock, wielded.
3. A AMD65Tech recoil buffer.
4. A Echo93 V5/AMD sling plate.
5. A EMA Tactical AK47 Quick MAG Release.
6. A AMD65tech Ultimate Tactical Safety Lever.
7. A Krebs Custom Trigger Pin Retaining Plate.
8. A Krebs Custom AK Aperture Sights – 800m.
9. A KNS Precision Front Sight AK-47, SKS Ball Post .052 Inch Diameter.
10. Sling made by Echo93
Anyway, as you can see. I have added A LOT to this rifle....... At least in terms in AK style rifles. xD
AMD-65s are great, wicked looking rifles and are a hoot to shot, they don't have a lot of recoil thanks to the compensator and they have a loud report and tend to spew fireballs out the end of them if fired rapidly enough. TGI imported ones are reliable and can be trusted unlike Century Arms imported ones and the weld on the barrel has shown no signs of cracking or any thing suggesting lazy work. They are calibered in 7.62x39 Warsaw.
The only thing I don't like about these rifles is the folding stock button can be stubborn at first and the paint job isn't fantastic and easily clips off from use. DX
Otherwise, it's a great rifle, highly recommend them. = )

The Hungarian firearms company known as "FEG" (Fegyver- és Gépgyár) used to make them for the military and eventually made semi-automatic only versions for the US civilian market, TGI (Tennessee Guns International) imported those rifles and sold them throughout the US until FEG went out of business temporarily. (I originally thought they went out permanently, but I was looking up the translation for FEG and apparently someone actually saved them from bankruptcy and they are now still in business, not sure if they still import rifles to the US though)
FéG is for Fegyver és Gázkészülékgyár (Firearm and Gas-equipment Factory).
I have an AMD-65 but it is not operational. Yet.
And it is one of our service weapons in the Dept. of Corrections in Hungary, where I am serving as a staff sergeant (OR7).
I am wery interested in military stuff/history.And catgirls.Or their combinations as it is displayed by my works.

The AMD-65 rifle is a great rifle, only thing I find a particularly bad flaw about its design was the lack of a cheek rest, it really needed one and considering how AMD65Tech got around the problem by using just a piece of the same hollow steel tube with a bit of rubber coated around it, I cannot believe the Hungarian military didn't have the same happen to their rifles from the start, I understand the need for a light folding stock because primarily tank crews and paratroopers used them, but the accuracy and effectiveness of shot placement provided by that cheek rest would've really made this a really popular weapon in trained hands. It's shocking how accurate a gun of this length both legal US shipment length and military standard length can actually be when you can easily use the sights.
The cheek rest really really compliments the fantastic compensator the rifle has.
Anyway. I hope you get your rifle operational and manage to find someone who might be able to put you some sort of cheek rest on it. (AMD65Tech doesn't ship outside the US I believe sadly.)

I found changing the front grip like I did here to be very effective of fixing the issue with putting 30 rounders in it, I could hunt down even shorter grips, but I don't see the point when the grips I bought did the job while still making it looks "original" and cool. = )
Removing it without the assistance of the EMA mag release is a different story I admit however, still as much a pain to remove them with the new grips as it was the originals. xD
