I only knew as much information about the story behind these photos as the seller could tell me, he got them from a member of this soldier's family tree who was the last one in her branch, she has long died from cancer without ever bearing a heir so the family of this soldier, WW1 Veteran Silas Kabler, is now done.
I tried to find out more information about this guy, but I couldn't find anything reliable to add to these photos, so i'm sorry about that.
There were two of these and I bought the one on the left because it appeared to be the original one. I find these to be very unique due to the fact they are COLOURED photos, something that was almost nonexistent during the early 1900s. It is likely that the Kabler family was a very wealthy family.

Tinted photos were popular in the early part of the century, and during WW1 especially. Sadly with the army archives being destroyed in the 1974 fire, most WW1 and 2 info on personnel was lost. I had to prove my father served in WW2 for a military funeral by showing photographs of him stationed in Panama during the war. And even then it was like pulling teeth.
