This is a headboard, you know, those things that those mysterious hooks attach to on bed frames. I found this ancient version at a Goodwill for $20. I've had my eye out for one of these for years since they really don't make these things any more except in king sized McMansion orgy monstrosities costing as much as a good used car or pressboard kids furniture. For $20 it was all wood, the right size and ugly as Arkansas genealogy with that 1950's unstained shellac finish that time turns a sickly green. To make it look not so horrid I pulled out some black gloss paint and some sandpaper.
I sanded and painted and sanded and painted until it was reasonably smooth and glossy then whipped out the airbrush and iridescent paint. The camera cannot see the breathtaking glow coming from the paint like butterfly wings or bluebottle flies. I then sprayed this glazing clear paint over it and it shines like crazy.
