Ok, so the Horizon Storyline is based around that half-a-planet there. Essentially, the fellow on the right (originally named "Lithen at birth, renamed himself to "Omni" at a later age) destroyed one half of the world.
At an early age, Omni was power-hungry. He became captain of the town guards at 22, but left shortly afterwards, having nothing more to strive for in that line of career. His sights turned to legends of power, training himself in the arts of Aircrafting (their alternative to magic) to aid him on his way. He gathered a band of followers to break his way into any tomb or ancient monument, searching for relics beholding power he could harness.
Upon finding the mythical Temple and Tomb of the demi-god Omni, lord of the skies and thunder, he plundered it feverently, and to his delight, came across a pod of synergy (remains of an ancient race far technologically advanced, these synergy pods were used to recharge their strength, bio-armour or health). He unleashed the synergy pod upon himself and was overwhelmed with power. Seemingly able to aircraft anything and anyone, Lithen was crushing mountains out of sheer delight. He named himself "Omni" and, as such, was worshipped as a reborn demi-god throughout his land.
Months later, a virus known as "The Fury" was unleashed upon the lands. Spreading quickly due to being airborne, victims were transformed into twisted, savage forms of their former selves, and would make it their personal goal to dismember anything else moving or breathing. Cities tore themselves apart in days. As Omni's land was consumed, the virus threatened to pass on to other continents, eventually the entire world. To save the others living on the planet from the virus, Omni exhausted his power to create a huge pulse that annihilated anything it crossed, microscopic to gigantic.
The land rose around the unsevered part of the world, containing the waters of it's ocean but vastly reducing land-space. Thousands of settlements and cities drowned as the oceans rose, but the remaining lives prospered. Since that day, the remnants of the Fury Virus has survived in it's inhabitants, who roam the barrier surrounding the seas, discouraging any mainlanders from planning to venture to these outer continents. Hence why the Mainlanders believe the other half of the world exists; it has only been quarantined due to the Fury Virus.
I know it's hard to believe that such a planet so technologically advanced as this one haven't discovered half their world is missing, but let's just say they think the threat of infection is *that* high. Plus they've got more pressing issues to deal with, due to the whole cyborg thing. I'll post more info on *that* in a short while.
Will move to sketches soon.
