ϟ Aqualotties ϟ
Axolotl // Dragon // Otter
Aqualotties are small magical creatures that inhabit small areas of water close to land. They are born from shooting stars that come to land in any body of water. When a star hits the water each droplet that splashes out from impact will come to form an Aqualottie. Their purpose in life is to protect bodies of water from pollution and to cleanse surrounding shores.
ϟ Diet ϟ
Aqualotties are strictly herbivores, they eat gunk to clean out polluted areas. If there is no pollution to eat then they enjoy snacking on underwater grasses and moss. Their favourite foods include moss, underwater grass such as (eelgrass and shoalgrass), and pondweed. They also enjoy sugar-water, which humans will leave by the waters edge as offerings to Aqualotties.
ϟ Characteristics ϟ
- Their horns, tusks, and gills never stop growing, the age of a lottie can be determined by the length of those parts.
- Full grown lotties are general the size of a weasel, reaching about 50cm at their maximum length.
- Their horns are made out of coral and often mimic the environment that the lottie lives in.
- Lotties live in small family groups, with the oldest being the leader, regardless of gender. The oldest have the strongest magical properties.
ϟ Magic ϟ
Lotties are imbued with magical powers that they inherit from the shooting star they are born from, they use this magical power to cleanse and bless water that they live in. As well as cleansing water they have a strong understanding of magical medicine. Injured creatures from as a result of hunting or predator attacks have been known to be healed by a kind Aqualottie from time to time.
When they haven't been able to use their cleansing or healing powers for a time they will become overcharged. Overcharged Aqualotties give off static when touched and their gills will sparkle and crackle with magical energy.
