A super fun detailed-painting commission for
magarnan :3 Mag is being pursued through a nightmare world by a monster "shadow" version of himself - all his deepest darkest fears and insecurities, all the negativity and self-destructive impulses. Just when it seems he'll be overcome by the shadow beast, his friend Draka manages to telepathically tear into his nightmare in order to rescue him. I'm sure everyone can relate to having a "shadow" self, of spending time in a darker internal place... and often, in times like those, it's our close friends who are able to reach in and show us the way back to the light.

Aww, thank you!! <3 Heh, I enjoyed that dog park YCH, it makes me happy to hear you did too :D I will be opening a new batch of commission slots quite soon - probably within the next few weeks - though as always I will post a journal entry here at least one week beforehand with a specific opening date., And I totally plan on doing more YCHs, I've been getting so many fun ideas lately! ;D

As for the title, and of a part of ourselves that is all that's ugly, all it makes me think is this song by Keving Gilbert which gives me as much shivers as this image...

You've certainly captured the heart and feel of this idea to a tee! And I certainly enjoyed working with you and I am glad it is a fun theme to work on!
Indeed it is true, there are certain beasts within that threaten to overtake one's self, and there are some that are so powerful one needs help to overcome (or escape). And hopefully, with that bit of help from the few that are close, one can avoid become the nightmare of themselves they fear and despise :)

I find one's shadow self is a waking experience and that fears and anxieties in dreams take the form of disastrous scenarios and activities.
