Well, the Famas wasn't exactly the best rifle but it was the poster child of the great fugly guns to come after it x3 as for the MAS, well this is the first time i've heard of it. x3 it sorta reminds me of a Lee Enfield mk3, but it clearly doesn't look one one x3. where they made around the same year or something?.
I used a FAMAS and this rifle is tons of fun
Certainely not the best military rifle today, but very fun to use, funny looking and I would be happy to buy a surplus one, as a sport shooter ... but I can't, because the government prefer to destroy them
The MAS-36 look like other old rifles but the mechanism is pretty original and still used in FR-F1 and FR-F2 rifles.
The MAS 49/56 is pretty nice too.

that blows. hey, does France have gun shows or auction sites for guns? cause those are the only places that I can think of where you could find one (though they would no doubt raise the price to crazy levels).
I was at a gun show just yesterday and a guy was selling an SVD Tiger. no bull, a real SVD and not those Romanian PSL's. but he charged $4500 for it and wouldn't let anyone touch it unless they could afford it XP

I almost asked for a com with her paintjob Glock 20, but no, this gun don't deserve such a nice draw, the Manurhin does!
I can understand that
I'm not a lot into fancy things. A good old revolver, strong, accurate, reliable, sober.
The dame way I have a "barebone" 1953 Browing HP.
I'm not at all into the "pimp my gun" thing, exept for my glock 20, because like all glocks this thing is ugly and had a crappy trigger (but it's almost the only 10mm pistol available were I live, that's why I took one), so I had to customize it to solve these problems

-orgasms internally-
As a rare gun owning Brit ... what you just told me is like sex in my ear!
The closest thing I own to that is my Smith & Wesson 586 (of which I love and hold dear)
I'd love to own the 5 1/4" barrel one, to me that's the "classic" MR-73.
In fact one of my character is posing with the 5 1/4" Manurhin in a picture (art of which is not by me)
As I have a great love and respect for the GIGN. I know the world gives the French shit about stuff, but the GIGN are just ... wow.

And I have a very high respect for the Brit SAS
I love the 585 too, but the MR-73 look more like the S&W 19 and I look this "old style" look
I tend to describe the MR-73 as a "Strong as hell, match-grade S&W 19" for the ones who don't know it.
Just for you, collection of my handguns, the three MR-73 then a 1953 Browning hi-power, Steyr C9-A1 and Glock 20 with (obviously) portal-related paint job.
I have some rifles too, including one of yours L1A1

I've got a Model 66 the stainless steel version. I do like it too.
I'd say the MR ha a sort of 19/Colt Python kind of look to it. Like a beautiful mix of both.
Those are some beautiful handguns.
I've got some nice handguns; the 586 6", the 66 4", a rare half-lugged Ruger GP-100 6", a S&W Model 10 bull barrel, my hand cannon the S&W 629 hunter 44 Magnum, a Walther P-38 post war (apparently) a Russian Tokarev TT-33, a CZ 85B and some .... canadian M1911 with a long barrel.

8O I'd love an old Top Break Smith, though I'm kind of attracted to the "New Model No.3" over the Schofield.
Then again the Webley revolvers DID copy the Schofield ... so maybe a Schofield would be super awesome too.
With the .44 the full underlug and the unfluted cylinder help with the recoil by adding a bit to the weight.
Though ammo is hard to come by and expensive. :c Which is why I like the 586 so much, 38 special and 357 isn't nearly as hard on me. ^_^
I've got other guns than just handguns. My next purchase is going to be a rifle, the British L42a1 which is pretty much just a Lee-Enfield Sniper Rifle customised by the army to fire the 7.62 NATO.

I don't know many guns chambered in 7.62x25
There the Nagant revolver, the Tokarev, I THINK there is a Czech pistol ... -looks- oh yeah the 52 http://www.imfdb.org/images/b/b4/Cz52.jpg
I don't have many rifles :c
I do have a VZ58 in semi-automatic too though so YAY :D
Admittedly I thought it was an AK at first. :|
I want an L1a1 but it's just finding them. :/
A Mosin would be nice too, I've seen a few of them,WW2 models, some carbines, nice rugged gun.
I want to get a Winchester rifle, or a Marlin. I DID have a Winchester model 1866 (it was likely a reproduction) and I traded it out because I needed the money. I'm still kicking myself because of it, I LOVED that rifle.
Shotguns are bare basics for me too, a few double barrels, BUT also an original Winchester 1887 in 10 gauge, customised the the Terminator 2 format. :D
I saw it one day at a gun show and I bought it immediately! XD I couldn't resist!

VZ-58 and MR-73 (or Steyr C9-A1) here
I bought a glock (G20) and I must say I don't like it
Well, now I loke it, but I spent half of its price in aftermarket before starting to like it. It was shooting too low, handled the recoil poorly and the vanilla trigger was crap, and I find glocks ugly, but there is not a lot of choice in 10mm gun in europe
So one paint job, trigger kit, highter sights and DPM spring kit later, it start to be ok, but it's crappy partial chamber still destroy my shells as soon as my ammo besome to be a little hot, so I can't fire full power ammo without sending to trash $0.30 shell each time I press the trigger
