Yup, I'm still at it.
This is the first thumbnail for pages five through eight (each quarter is a page). Not much to look at, but that's the point. You do this so when you do get to the parts meant to be shown you know what you're doing.
I'm looking at this, though, and I'm wondering if I should change the layout. I'm still planning for an A4 page size (roughly 8.3 × 11.7 inches, which is thinner and longer than "letter" size). It's also much larger than the standard comic.
But I'm not sure if I'm laying this out properly. I'm planning for each page to have four rows of panels, with a maximum of three panels per row for a total of 12 maximum. I thought I was making good use of the "extra" space and this would be okay with my art style (which isn't very detailed), but now I'm having second thoughts.
Am I cramming too much on each page? And no, I'm not expecting anyone to guess based on my thumbnails. I was hoping that those of you who have read more "european format" comics than myself would have a clue from your reading experience. I have read Tintin and Asterix and can compare against them, but I'm looking for second opinions.

It's a judgement call. British comix have very dense storytelling, because of their traditional short-episodic format. Japanese comics are much more relaxed, with the story spread over many more pages. How much room do you have, how much story do you need to cram into that room? And it's not even all thru the book - there's fast-paced and slower-paced scenes throughout the tale, yes?
