Well, my cactuses took root surprisingly quick and are both growing new pads. Neither have thorns yet.

Yep, that stuff is tough. We have had places where it burned and they still came back

Yeah they're native to the southern part of the state I live in, and I've seen cases where they were shredded by lawn mowers and the little shredded bits just grew into new cactuses. Very strange plants, cacti
