The question is who followed him? Was it the guardian, or was it one of the agents? Also, why didn't it react and go after him right then and there? The only explanation I can think of is that it was an unknown assailant that didn't want to be seen or noticed for whatever reason. Hence why I'm leaning more towards the agents at the moment.
