'The son of a doctor, and a scientist, William "Billy" Gilvenzan was one of many people
whose life was severely altered by the Robotnik War started by Julian Kintobor.

Serving as a scout for GUN (the military force of the United Federation)
he was a member of a unit led by then fellow soldier Alan Zander.

when GUN Commander Hugo Brass we revealed to be a traitor,
Alan became the new commander, and decided to suspend GUN as an active unit.

instead reforming It into a "Freedom Fighter" group
modeled after Princess Sally's team stationed near Robotropolis.

like the other members of Alan's unit, Billy became founding member
of the newly rechristened "Station Square Freedom Fighters"


At some point Hugo Brass, and his chief scientist Vincent Sobolov,
decided that the mobian freedom fighter' Sonic the Hedgehog,
would become a threat to them one day.

a plan dubbed "Operation: HIGH VELOCITY" was launched,
in which the means to finally terminate the speedster would be accomplished.

having held the record as the "fastest" human (both in reaction, and thinking)
Billy was eventually captured, and used as a test subject.

a mixture of chemicals, Tachyons, and an electrical surge granted Billy super speed.
Essentially turning him into the human equivalent of Sonic himself.

Now superpowered, Billy dubbed himself "Velocity", and began leading the front lines
against the Regime forces.

all the while fighting off attempts by Sobolov to directly kill him in numerous ways.


Like Sonic, Billy began to become overconfident (and, a tad arrogant.)
his ego took a bitter blow when during one mission, he was captured and interrogated
over sensitive information that he had uncovered regarding the location of the Knothole Village.

for his refusal to speak, Hugo Brass had his vocal cords torn out.
rending Billy mute, unable to even whisper without feeling pain.

the experience humbled the speedster,
teaching him to be more patient, and rely on others for help.


in the final days of the Robotnik War, Billy finally did meet Sonic.
and, due to both being speedsters, they quickly became friends.

Princess Sally especially took pity on Billy.
feeling guilty over what he sacrificed for her, and her people.


In the wake of the Xorda Invasion, Sonic the Hedgehog appeared
to have died saving Planet Mobius from the 'Quantum Dial'

during this time, a mournful Billy took It upon himself
to succeed Sonic as the planet's "Speedy Protector"

In time, he and Princess Sally's relationship grew into something more.
and, the two soon married (an action that King Max hoped would
bring about a Great Peace between Mobians and Humans.)

However, when Sonic returned from being "lost in space."
things became awkward between the three for awhile.


Billy was finally able to regain his voice when Prince Elias
suggested he submerge himself into the "Source of All" pool
(the mystical substance from which the raw material of the Power Rings are forged.)

Billy's voice was restored..but, during his submergence
he foresaw a vision of a demonic hedgehog, and his and Sally's son' Prince Caleb.'

I had planned on designing my Billy Gilvenzan character for awhile.
and, finally decided to give It a try after my Sonicverse storyline progressed.

While Billy was initially based on Bumblebee/Goldbug from Transformers.
in my revision of the character, I based him mostly on the DC Comics character: "The Flash."


I know that with this in mind, people are wondering why I gave Billy a YELLOW suit.
as in 'Flash', a yellow-suited speedster on mostly associated with the Reverse Flash (Evil Flash)

I have a few good reasons for this.


1. as stated above, I initially based Billy on Bumblebee.
so, 'Yellow' was always my intended trademark color for him.


2. When moving at super speed, I want him to resemble a lightning bolt.
and, this effect his best done if he is dressed in yellow.


and, 3. Giving him a RED suit would be too obvious.


No doubt people are wondering/critical of Billy having hair like Sonic.
well, the reason for THIS is simple: Moving at super speed caused his hair to stick that way.
