Yeah, well I heard the news today, that The california constitution now officially supports biggotry and religious rule has infected govornment, Forget Separation of Church and State, at this point....Church IS the state. The biggot state of california (a shame they wasted aaaaalll that money on those lovely looking travel/tourism ad). And as stated I heard the people's reasonings for thier support for Prop 8 and this was basically what came to mind.
The image, the two confused same-sex couple happy untill they run into the religious wall, and out comes these "christians" and Mormons... Calling Homosexuality devil worship, treating it as a disease/mental illness that they are only trying to cure you of. THey were spouting off about how "Oh if we legalize same-sex marriages, then whats to stop Pedophilia to be next, or Bestiality. Oh we are only doing it to protect the sanctity of marriage (over 60% of marriages end in divorce), Children can only thrive in A Man-woman marriage, anything else would be dangerous for the child's development...The bible Says.....Its written in the bible.....

I am so sick of people hiding behind thier bible and the "majority rules" excuse. As if christianity/mormonism is SOOOO squeaky clean. I am seeing more christians on tv and its not the church channel. The christians I see On tv always have the caption "Priest/Pastor/Sunday School Teacher/etc, caught with child porn/underage boy/girl...WHAT THE FUCK EVER! I am sick of them talking about how Same-sex rights are such an afront to god, while at the same time, its apparently ok for christians/mormons to hide behind thier religion as a shield while they take the part of "Father Bad-touch" It makes me Sick, Makes me very glad I am wiccan. And makes me furious that these people go about acting like they are doing "god's work" or "Saving lost souls" while they are essentially playing "whack-a-mole" with the rights of others who dont follow thier beliefs

I will get flack for this...but the Supreme Court of California did not "support biggotry". It held up a decision made by the people of California. Look, America isn't perfect, but its better than any other place out there since its the pubic, its citizens that get to decide matters within the country. Not for too much longer with Obama in office, but the Supreme Court simply ruled that government doesn't have any say in the matter when the vote is left to the people. As it should be. If Prop 8 had failed in the general election, I'm sure there would be an appeal made my the religious community...but really, it wouldn't be right if they went crying to the government and demanded that they over-rule what the people of the state had voted for.
There will be another chance to vote on it in a few years, I'm sure. Best to make a better case during that election, and not cry 'foul'. Also, Doctor King made a lot of progress, brought 'change', without calling other people names. Without shouting that someone had done him or the black Americans of this country 'foul'. You bring anger and demands to the table against principles as old as that in this country, you won't get nothing by anger back. You should think on that, and should everyone else upset about the Supreme Court actually acting like a court, and realize they don't have the political muscle to do as they please.

I know, Maybe as a canadian I dont have a firm grasp, I am just tired of hearing all these pastors and priests going on about righteousness and purity, and how same-sex couples arent in "god's plan" and all these other BS reasons, then turn around and we see them on the news being led away in cuffs after being caught with an "underage" alter boy/girl...blah blah, So Its looks alot to me like they preach homosexuality as a sin, while turning the other cheek on priests being pedophiles >.< and on top of that they are playing "cherry picker" with the Bible. They say homosexuality is a sin/abomination. And Yet dont stone Unwed mothers, dont forbid shellfish, and all the other things that the bible says to do...Its just plain infuriating. Now You are welcome to your religion and I am happy with mine, But I am getting tired of every christian that sees me tells me unless I Accept jesus, the one true god, I am going to burn in hell. Well I am going to eventually snap and tell them to go fix thier own religions problems before claiming it as "pure". When I die, I will NOT burn in hell (Calling it the name christianity gave it Because wiccans believe to give a source of evil a name is to give it its power), My soul will go to Summerland, where there I shall await reincarnation while my material body is returned to nature from whence it came.

Again, there are issues with America, and those issues are only going to get worse under Obama, but as far as details in the Bible and how one should live...all I can say is everyone goes through trials. Everyone has a test they must take, and most times, we'll fail those tests. We're human, we're flawed thanks to Adam giving into Eves nagging and ate the apple from the forbidden tree. In my opinion, most have the Bible wrong. The Bible is used to focus on what a good Christian should be like, but not how one should act. Its all there, if you read, the basis of how to live a good life...it all started with a man by the name of Jesus. He was tried, he was put on the spot, and he was put to death...but during all that in his life, he didn't go around saying "You fishermen, follow me to the next town...and if you see a Jew, tell them they're going to burn in hell for they do not accept me as the son of my father, God."
Love and respect, certainly within reason...killing unborn, or murder, unacceptable...but beyond that, love is what you need. And as I said to someone else, love can't be defined. No one can tell you what love is, and they certainly can't box it off. The heart wants what it wants, and for who I love...the church doesn't condon it, but the church has lost its way.

I agree that the church has lost its way, It just saddens me that they do not want to acknowledge it. 50000 women a year left christianity, and I think it was last year, the church didnt focus on any faults they may have had, they blamed Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the vampire slayer), which was a show that had at that time been off the air for 5 years. The simple phrase sums it up....Those who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones...

A.S. Beale in Massachusetts in the 1840's was the one that made it be 'written in the bible' that God hates homosexuals. Before him it was unknown why 'God' so the fable of Sodom and Gomorrah goes, struck down two men lying together. What is often times missed is actual history as well as Vulcanology.
Sodom unfortunately was built on top of a close to the surface magma pocket. so when the volcano blew there was fire and brimstone falling from the skies! Ancient people always had a reason for why a calamity just had to happen to others because 'God' was mad at them.
And the reason Lot and his family were put on the spot with the strangers in his compound was Lot though a God-fearing man was not above the law in Sodom. So when the men of Sodom came to his gate and demanded to 'know' the strangers ie rape them, (why? because it was the LAW in Sodom there were never any strangers in Sodom, once you were 'known' you were not a stranger anymore.)

Christains are given such a bad image *sigh*. Im a christain but I dont go around shaking my finger at everyone, preaching the word. My few is not to use the bible as a weapon as so many others do but a guide to my personal life. To find peaced in ones self through its teachings is my goal. To those who throw it at people, use its words to attempt to cure others...they cant be right, just cant be. It says not to judge, that is not our job. I care for those who need it, I love those who seek it. This is my goal in the bible.

I am not saying all the christians are bad. I am wiccan and as I said...I could not have christian friends. I tried it, and Everytime my friend saw me, they would tell me how Only though jesus and christianity could I be "saved". How she was sorry for me because My religion choice was going to have me burning in...the hothouse....for all eternity. Every time a christian crossed me, they would start preaching about how my religion (Wiccan) was basically devil worship. The lord and lady have protected me, When I needed money, situations would come up where I either found money or was given a chance to earn money. When I needed food, Friends would come by and donate food to help me. I mean I was running out of markers and my sister's husband bought her an art set, and then my sister Instantly ran in and bought one for me. A 194 piece giant art set....

I figure, in the end, we'll all figure it out pretty clearly. Til then, its just gotta be each and everyone of us figuring it out for ourselves and do our best to get along. That said, we should be open to each other, help each other out in such matters. If I want to find out more about the Wiccan ways, I should feel comfortable coming to you and vis versa if you ever wanted to no more about christainity, Im here for ya. Yes It is a shame, A well known Wiccan Named Silver Ravenwolf said that It is best to think Of all religions as One big diamond. One face for every religion. There is a face on the diamond for christianity, one for wicca, one for buddism, one for islam, One for Jewish, etc. Every religion has its own face on the diamond. But lately it seems christianity has been trying to take over the entire diamond.
You just see it that way due to current events. You want to see a conqueroring religion, look at Islam and the muslims. It is true, christains have been known to forcefully spread the word...but we aint exactly out to kill ya cus you dont agree with us lol.

Forcefully...? Hardly. Unless you speak of the Crusades, then really those were battles for defending religious relics and locations that were being destroyed as Muslims tried to over-take the region. Jesus never spoke of forcefully converting someone...take what was said about the Romans. A Roman soldier, while on patrol, could demand a Roman citizen to carry his gear for one mile and one mile only. After which, the citizen would be paid or given something to tell a later patrol that day, that that citizen had already carried gear for a mile. What was spoke of in the Good Book, was that if a Christian was picked to carry the gear, do so without strife or complaint. While you carry the gear, speak of God and his works, the blessings in your life, and once you reach the mile marker...go an extra mile without accepting pay for that extra mile. Use that extra mile to speak more...you don't throw the word of God upon someone and demand they believe it right away. It takes time, but eventually, all will speak with God in one way or another.

Well, I agree with you on most points. The notion I used under the term of "Forcefully" simply implied to those who are bashers of other faiths. Those who stand on the street corners and preach that everyone whos not them are sinners and will burn. Those guys essentially. Basically, Im not going to go into a fur con and start preach the word...that just wouldnt be right and many people would think Im there to force my religion on them. Thats pretty much all I was talkin about.

True, all good things must come to a vote, But at the same time we cant leave everything to a vote. Blacks wanted equal rights, Majority voted against it. People wanted to marry those of other races, majority voted against it. People wanted slavery to end, majority voted against it. You see what I am saying. There are somethings that should Just NOT be left to majority vote. Otherwise we would still pretty much be back in the dark ages with seperate drinking fountains, slaves would still be around, women wouldnt have rights..and the world would be even more fucked up than it already is.
No matter how much you agree or disagree with Prop 8... If the court voted to overturn it, that would be a precedent with dire, and quite horrid ramifications.

I know. I'm sick of hearing their excuses to deny same sex and LGBT loving couples the same equal rights as anybody else. And I'm sick of this sanctity of marriage crap too. Marriage is just as sacred as a cow in McDonalds.
It's kinda like 50 years ago they denied interracial couples who loved each other to be together. Now the same people are picking on anew scapegoat. Which is what fundamentalists have always been doing throughout the ages. I guess some of these people are afraid of change. They're worried on what effect it would have on their good old fashioned family values which nothing will happen anyway.
