1995, Oshkosh, WI.
This signal guarded the switch from the Milwaukee Road to the SOO LINE bridge over the Fox River.
The Milwaukee track had long since been abandoned in the 70's and the crossing diamond JUST to the south of this signal had been removed and the switch to the CNW a mile east had been removed as well. That signal still stood with it's rusted and weed choked rails leading to severed rails. Unlike this one that had long since been deactivated the other one near the diamond still glowed brilliant red 20+ years after it last saw a train. Even to this day I kick myself not fighting traffic to photograph it! Today these signals are all gone, the rails are gone, even the swing bridge across the Fox River is gone.
