This has got to be one of the largest, 8 tube chassis I've ever seen in a radio of this vintage. It's really open and simple underneath as well. I just played this radio for a little over an hour tonight without any issues. It's got a rather bright tone from those push-pull 25L6's when the tone control is set in the center position. The first position is too mellow and the third cuts the bass out completely. Sometimes my ears don't like too bright.

Wow, I wish I could remember for sure about the transformer.
It does look odd without anything in that corner.
After my cabinet busted, the chassis went to a guy in Jackson Center Ohio who wanted it because it was all restored. I think I got his unrestored chassis, but in both cases, I don't remember a loop antenna.
Too long ago, and memories are fading. Gah!
That chassis actually reminds me of a GE I'm getting. The H-116

I had a chance to get a GE H-116 years back right before my GMC Jimmy self-desctructed on me. Big and neat looking radio! The only warning I have for you is what Tim told me about them. He junked several out because it ssems the H-116 is one of the few pre-war radios that can develop IF issues with the IF cans.
