Quagga are an extinct relative of zebra. Natural. There was some plan in the works to re-create the breed by breeding select zebra. So far, they've just produced a zebra with fewer stripes.
In fact, quagga (quaggae?) vary quite a bit, from zebra with white butts, to those with a brown blanket --like this one. They are, however, a species entirely unto themselves and not a zorse or a zonkey.
