If your thinking of doing this here are my diagrams and notes for my wand...
Supply's-
Wood: My Choice / Others
Its best to pick a nice quality wood, so here is my choice & a grate place for others...
Knife: Morakniv 120
Hardwood is a great material for wands so they don't damage as easy, only down side regular knives have a hard time cleanly cutting it... So here is a grate one made for hardwood.
Design-
This wand has an interesting desgin...
The handle is 5" and the wand is 7". In the end is should be 12"...
I start with a 1" x 1" x 12" peace of wood. I whittled it down to 1/2" (.5) x 12" dowel, and went from there...
The base handle layer is 1/2" (.5)
Its a layered design each layer the wand gets smaller, 6 layers in all.
Each layer is ended with a pointed tip oval intersecting at an eagle...
Eave oval is 3/4" (.75) then theirs a gap of 1/2" (.5) and the angel flips...
The band towards the top of the handle is 1/4" (.25), it also starts at lower most part of the last layer... But counting from the bottom its just as think as layer 4, so account for that when carving.
The tip can be complex if your wanting it round so check diagram to see how i did it...
Its 1/2" (.5) from the top. It starts to curve at 1/4" (.25), and and curves more at 3/8" (.375) before ending...
Tips don't have to be a sharp pointed, mine will be flat'ish.
