This beautiful lil' momma got caught up in our live trap this morning. Was gonna drive her somewhere and set her free again but then realized she had a back full of ADORABLE little babies! I wanted to keep them all and snuggle them forever. ; n ;
She was comin' up and eyeballing our chickens, so we waited to get them all back in the coop and in the meanwhile served her many noms and some fresh water while she hung out in a larger cage we had out back. (Lots of room for her and the babies to meander about, don't worry!)
Later on in the day when the chickens were safely away, we set her free in the back yard where she was caught in the first place- just in case she had any babies elsewhere or a mate to tend to or... who knows! She might be back, but that's okay.
I CAN'T HANDLE IT WHY ARE OPOSSUMS SO CUUUUTE?! I got to pet one of her precious babies. The momma was scared but she was so sweet, too. Bless their little hearts. <3 Just thought I'd share this here as an avid lover of the little scruffy fluffs... why not? ; w ;

Update: She kinda just... hung around for several hours after we set her free. She seemed terrified but also elated for the food. xD We kept a distant eye on her from the windows and she finally wandered off once the sun went completely down. Dunno if she'll be back, but I hope her and her precious beebs grow up big and strong and live long, happy lives~ (I'm an idiot who feeds fruit/veggie and other safe/cooked meal scraps to the wildlife so I'm sure it's my fault that they've wandered up... but I don't mind. :B)
Rofl! She did. :) She comes by every other night or so to snoop for food. xD We have free range chickens here, so she often comes looking for any misplaced eggs. We don't mind leaving some scraps out for her and her babies. We think she's probably just living in the back woods not far from here. Honestly, we get skunk visitors more often than anything. xD Ahh, the joys of living in the woods. lmao
I wish it were that friendly! Those skunks are fiesty! We just had one lose its mind because it bumped into another skunk and, well... the aftermath neither smelled good nor sounded good. ; _ ; I thought something was killing it or something, ran outside to see and realized it was all because two skunks were just like OMFG WHO DIS?! lmfao
