This red-tailed tropicbird (Phaethon rubricauda) was my first serious attempt at oil paints. I love them! They're great to work with and they give a marvelous result. Unfortunately, they're not exactly suitable to use in a small room like the one I live in. The smell of terpentine just won't go away. About... oh, I dunno, 60x40 cm.

What a beautiful painting! I really like the bird's slender look and the skilful use of white colour. Those totally white areas without any shadows or shades give it more realistic look. The bird looks so soft that you just want to pet it! ^^ I love this! I'm a big fan of oil colours too and I've experienced the problems too of using them in small rooms. XD The smell is terrible! By the way - how long did it take to finish this?
