A small smile crept upon his maw as Rinzo looked over a certain costume that played upon his simple bed. It had taken a bit of effort along with some sneakiness but it had all been worth it as the finished product before attested too. A certain purple dress adorned with a simple white trimming and the royal crest of the Dreemur Family sat atop a long white blouse with lengthy sleeves. Sitting next to the royal outfit was a simple set of puffy, furry white gloves, each looking similar to a certain royal's, paired with a equally furry pair of feet, each sporting four toes.
The most important part however sat at the head of the dress, a mask made of the finest materials he could scavenge and crafted into the perfect likeness of a gentle and kind matriarch. Not a hint of malice or anger was present on her features as only a soft sad smile touched its lips. The eyes were hollow but would easily come to life once the ensemble was complete. And the last but certainly not least detail was a simple furry tail set to the side, its bristles gently wafting about.
"I can't believe I was able to keep this a secret from Artemis for this long, he is going to love seeing this costume come to life," Rinzo said with restrained glee, being careful not to be too loud. In the other room, his roommate sat by himself, reading one of the mainly books to line the bookshelf in the living room.
"Alright, looks like it's time to get started, Artemis won't expect me to be suiting at this moment."
Rinzo's hand started with the simple long blouse, pulling it over his body as it easily reached down to his knees. His arms slipped through the long sleeves, his hands barely able to extend past the sleeve. Next came the dress with he took extra care with, making sure not to let it get caught on his horns. The dress and crest easily draped across his frame, the hem the dress reaching his shins.
Next came the white, furry feet as he took a seat on the bed and carefully pulled them upon his own. He sat for a moment after placing them on as he moved his new feet about, watching in surprise as the toes wiggled as easily as his own would. He gave a small chuckle as his excite began to well up. The gloves came next, their soft interior hugging his own hands and fingers as they slid into place. He purred slightly as the soft felt of the gloves massaged his finger, moving each digit about with a toothy grin.
"Wow, this suit is so lifelike. I never expected it to feel so nice, so soft. I can see why Toriel like to wear this outfit and the feeling of this fur is just amazing," He remarked, looking over his mostly suited form in the nearby mirror.
"Still, there's two more piece left, I can't wait to see the look on Artemis' face when he get a load of this."
The young dragon went back to work as he picked up the nearby tail. He instantly frowned as he realized a critical error had been made, sighing loudly as he quickly lifted up the dress. He slowly maneuvered the tail over his rear, searching for the velcro he had placed back there for this appendages. After a few grunts and other sounds, he soon found purchase as the tail snugly latched on. He sighed as her lowered the dress, reaching through the small hole in the back to allow his faux tail to poke through. He turned back to the mirror let his rear shake a bit as the fluffy appendage followed suit.
"I can't believe I forgot the tail like that," He said, shaking his head as a large grin. "I got to calm down before I do something like that again, luckily there's only one piece left."
Rinzo slowly reached over the best towards the remaining portion of his outfit, the gentle mask of the Dreemur Matriarch. Pulling the back of the mask apart, he slowly inserted his head into the mask, careful to line up his own horns with the inserts inside the mask. As the mask came to rest upon his head, he slowly tightened the back of the mask, closing it off before stuffing the strings in the neck of the dress. He trend over to the mirror once more before gasping at the sight before him. The very image of Toriel stared back at him with widened red-eyes. Also to his shock, the mask easily emulated his own expressions before settling to a gentle sad smile.
"This is… Hhmmhh", He started before clearing his throat, slowly constricting his own vocal chords at the same time.
"This.. Is…" He spoke slowly, smiling as the gentle voice of the matriarch came out. "So, which do you prefer, cinnamon or butterscotch?"
He gave a quick twirl in the mirror before carefully walking over to the door of his room, turning the knob ever so carefully. His padded feet easily glided across the wooden floor, barely making a sound as he walked over towards the kitchen. Within the refrigerator was a certain box the faux Toriel pulled out, a smile across his lips. Pulling the box open, a certain pie greeted him. He quickly grabbed two plates and some cutlery before gliding over to the living room.
"I hope you like butterscotch cinnamon pie, I couldn't possibly decide between either one, so I thought why not both," Rinzo said in his best Toriel impression, his friend turning about with a slight bit of surprise on his face. However it quickly faded as it was replaced with a small smile.
"But of course, I would love to have some my dear Toriel," He replied, taking a small piece of pie and fork. Artemis quickly hopped up from the seat, allowing Rinzo to sit before taking a seat in his friend's lap. The pair peacefully enjoyed their pie, smiling as feelings between that of child and her mother genuinely bubbled up. Artemis could not help but cuddle up and nestled his chin into his friend's chest.
"Did you enjoy your pie Artemis? I hope it was delicious, I spent all day making it for you." Rinzo said, the soft tone of Toriel leaking through once more.
"Of course, it was amazing…" He said, suddenly feeling tired as his eyelids began to droop unexpectedly.
"I can tell, how about we take you to bed and I'll read you a quick story?" He asked, the bat gently nodding as the pair walked towards the bedroom.
Artemis gently jumped into his bed as Rinzo laid beside him, a book in his hands as the familiar sight of his room changed into something resembling the cozy home of the Dreemur Matriarch. Rinzo's gentle voice read through the book, his words easily soothing the bat they slowly drifted off to sleep. If one were to looking into their house at that one moment, one could have easily mistaken them for a true parent and child.
