"8 months, 13 days and some odd hours it had been since I made that choice, and turned him. And while I do get to keep him, and I am happy for this, it was more difficult for more people than I had imagined. I once again had only thought of myself. A selfish act of love.
8 months, 13 days, and some odd hours. That's how long it had been since Terry last saw him. I remember the look on his face when I told him he could not see Ekke; that he was a danger to him. The look on his face...It was like watching a wine glass fall in slow motion just out of arms reach. Nothing to be done but to brace for the impending shatter, and deal with the mess.
There is a lot of things I enjoy. Music, a good book, a nice walk in the garden. But nothing, and I mean nothing can compare to the feeling imparting joy into another being. That. That is what i love most. Its why i have been looking forward to this day for some time now. I saw that wine glass shatter, now it was time to piece it back together.
Ekke stood there among the cherry blossoms, the cold rain pouring down around him. His stance was calm and collected, far far more so than I had seen from him in these past months. I looked back to the boy behind me, and with a soft smile, I spoke: "He's waiting for you"
It was like watching two magnets get too close to one another. The second Terry laid eyes on him, it was like watching that wine glass in reverse. All the pieces began to fall back into place, and once again it was whole.
Off he ran, never missing a step before he jumped into the arms of my big oaf, where they both just.... melted. I don't know who was more emotional, Terry or Ekke, but it didn't really matter.
Love. Whether it’s an intimate one, or simply the love of a brother figure, it’s a massively powerful thing. A motivator for good, and bad choices. It’s also the motivator for those that stick by you, for both of those.
As for me? Heh. I got my high, my fill. They were happy.
