this is where the USS Wisconsin was driven from. 3 little slits in a huge ass armored room and have to depend on 3 other people to tell you where to turn, how much to turn and how fast to turn. LOL good luck driving this thing!

Ah yes. The Battle Bridge. I can see what you mean by the Helmsman in this position relying on his faith in his officers in telling him how to steer the ship. It always amazed me at how in the old WWII era Diesel Submarines at how the steering positions were along the sides of the control room and not facing forward.
Another reason Why I'd like to visit the USS Iowa again is to see the Battle Bridge, as it's been opened up again for public view. Folks can't go inside, but they can look through the hatch and see the cramped conditions in that space.
