The Hyaenae ("hi-YEN-aye")

Nomad-warriors of the far eastern deserts, the Hyaenae are the dwindling descendants of a long-lost empire. Known and respected for their savagry, and valued only for their soldiering, Hyaenae are often seen as capable of nothing but war. As such, they can only find work as mercenaries, and are seen on battlefields as far as those shared by Lupinian and Latrano soldiers. They work only for money, and are treacherous to those who cannot guarantee their regular payments in precious stones.

A Hyaenae camp is an armed village on the move. Surplus military vehicles are turned into tracked homes, trucks that once held soldiers now hold livestock, and children are often seen carrying weapons, which they are often pressed into using.

The Hyaenae are a dying group, as their only means of support is the very thing that is wiping them out. Most Hyaenae have a very dark outlook on life, even at a young age. Most have serious psychological damage, and it is still undetermined whether that is the reason for their dying status, or the very reason they have lived so long.
