Three to four days was what we traded in for good looks. Today we received the reward for walking the extra mile, sandpapering the first coating of black lacquer off again so that we could cover the grainy battlefield the oh-so-expensive top-quality wood surfacer left behind under a smooth-like-Jazz layer of resin-based surfacer. And, boy, was it worth it. We may have jeopardized our schedule for the pony-play event in May with this move. But the look in the mirror-like blackness of the front-board makes us feel proud about what we have achieved.

And there is more: The experience we collected will be very valuable when we turn the seat around on Monday and put the whole carriage back on it’s wheels. For it will be then, when we work on the actual visible upper side of the carriage. Knowing how to achieve the best results will be very helpful in working fast on that side.

As planned we’ll be on a family related roadtrip this weekend. But Monday is a public holiday in Germany so please, keep your fingers crossed for a sun-shiny day so that we may make some great progress.
