When Marc was drug by a chemical he was actually being shown to his future where he sees Earth destroyed and everyone he ever loved dead including Melissa. Breaking in tears a strange figure walks in front him and its a mutant resembling Marc himself. Marc looks at him and then he pulls out a gun aiming it at him.
